“For me fantasy isn’t about escaping from reality, it’s about re-encountering the challenges of the real world, but externalized and transformed. It’s an emotionally raw genre — it forces you to lay yourself open on the page.” ~ Lev Grossman, Finding My Voice in Fantasy

Born in 1969, Lev Grossman was the child of two English professors who encouraged his love of reading -- and later writing.

He went on to become a successful journalist who worked for Time magazine as their lead technology writer and book critic. For fifteen years, from 2002 to 2016, he wrote for them as well as had his articles published in many distinguished newspapers and magazines, from Vanity Fair to The Wall Street Journal to The New York Times. He even won the Deadline award in 2006.

The Magicians is just the first in the best-selling book series, the other two books were also best sellers and inspired the Syfy series that many fantasy lovers now watch.

This guy can’t get enough! Grossman has also written a movie for Amazon titled The Map of Tiny Perfect Things and is developing a TV series called The Heavens for Amazon as well.

Currently he lives in Brooklyn with his wife and three kids.

Needless to say, I’ll be watching his movie - and we haven’t heard the last of Lev Grossman and his many writing achievements!
